Calls to repair broken play equipment in a Lakefield park have gone unheard since February, last year.

The park is between Sedgefield Avenue and Mentz Street.

Clr Mary Goby (Ward 28) has called for the metro to repair the equipment, but to no avail.

Metro spokesperson, Themba Gadebe said the swings weren’t repaired for so long, due to a limited budget, saying, “All funds for the repairs of playground equipment had been used on other parks in the Benoni area.”

“The playground equipment will be repaired in the new Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s financial year (2016/2017) that starts on July 1,” Gadebe said.

Gadebe added that the allocation of the 2016/17 budget had not been received at the time of publication, but funds will be available for the repair of playground equipment.
