The body was found on Tuesday (May 24), at around 6pm.
The 16-year-old was found lying on the floor, with stab wounds to her upper body.
Ekurhuleni Central SAPS Cluster spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said it is alleged that the girl’s grandfather arrived home and noticed that the house was dark.
“He found it strange, because his granddaughter is always home when he arrives, and he then entered the house from the back entrance,” said Sekele.
“When the grandfather went to the sitting room he saw blood all over the room and the girl lying on the floor.”
Sekele added that the man called on neighbours for help, and they called the police.
A case of murder was opened at the Actonville Police Station.
No arrests had been made at the time of publishing, and police are appealing to community members to assist them with any information that can lead to the arrest of the murderer or murderers.
