Emergency services cut through car roof after accident

The fire department had to cut through the roof of a car to free the two occupants, who were injured in an accident with a small truck.

The two women, aged 45 and early 60s, both sustained moderate injuries.

According to Kelly Burchell, an ER24 paramedic on the scene, the car and the truck collided on the corner of Ampthill Avenue and Bunyan Street, in the Benoni CBD, at around 2.35pm on May 19.

“The light motor vehicle was on its side and a paramedic had to climb through the rear window to treat the patients,” said Burchell.

The patients were taken to Life the Glynnwood Hospital by ER24 and Netcare 911.
