Roadblock nets two with drugs

Two men were arrested for being in possession of cat worth R4 000 during a roadblock in the Benoni SAPS precinct.

The Benoni SAPS, with the help of the CPF, security services and EMPD K9 unit conducted roadblocks on Thursday, May 12 from 8.30am until 6.30pm.

On the day 163 cars were searched and checked for roadworthiness.

Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said a total of 347 people were searched, traffic fines worth R3 000 were issued and 11 undocumented people were arrested.

The arrested suspects were detained at the Benoni Police Station and will appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.
