Five wanted for armed robbery

A case of business robbery was opened at the Benoni Police Station, after an armed robbery at a supermarket on Great North Road, on May 3, at 8.30am.

According to Benoni SAPS media officer Const Zunickha Essakjee, it is alleged that five armed men approached the owner as he was opening the store.

“One of the men pointed a firearm at a man and instructed him to get inside the store,” said Essakjee.

“The robbers demanded money from the man and forced him to open the safe.”

The robbers fled with an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes and airtime.

No injuries were reported and no arrests were made.

Police are investigating.
