Drugs, counterfeit money found on man at Benoni Plaza

A man was arrested at the Benoni Plaza on April 21, for being in possession of counterfeit money and drugs.

Lieut-Col Wilfred Kgasago, EMPD spokesperson, said the SAPS and EMPD saw a sedan driving aimlessly in and around the plaza at around 10am.

The driver, who is in his mid-30s, was stopped after being observed for several minutes.

“The man was found in possession of counterfeit money amounting to R8 500, as well as the drug CAT and dagga valued at R15 000,” said Kgasago.

The suspect was arrested and charged at the Benoni Police Station, for being in possession of illicit substances, and also under the Prevention of Counterfeiting of Currency Act 16 of 1965.

He is expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court, soon.
