UPDATE: CMS saddened by their loss

Community Monitoring Services (CMS) members have extended their condolences to the family of the late CMS member, Gerhard Johan van Rooyen.

On Monday (March 28) evening, a tribute was published on the security company’s CMS Facebook page.

“It is with great sorrow that we report the passing of one of our own, Gerhard Johan van Rooyen,” the post stated.

“On the night of the 26th, while responding to the aid of a client that called in, Gerhard Johan van Rooyen had a motor vehicle accident and passed away as a result.

“He is survived by his wife Yolandi and three children.

“He received numerous compliments and praise for his service and dedication and his loss is deeply saddening.”

On Saturday evening, ER24 was made aware of the accident, on the corner of Stokroos and Oak streets, in Northmead.

“As we arrived on scene, we saw that the CMS vehicle was against a tree,” said ER24 spokesperson, Kelly Burchell.

“The front passenger side of the car impacted the tree.”

The City Times could not reach CMS for further comment at the time of going to print.
