Collision leaves man dead
A 19-year-old man died in a collision on Pretoria Road, in Petit on April 4.
The accident took place at around 7am.
“The man was killed after his motorcycle collided with a bakkie,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.
“We are not sure where the man was going.”
The wrecked motorcycle was found on the side of the road with parts spread across the scene.
“Paramedics found the body of the biker lying a few feet away from his motorbike,” Meiring said.
The 19-year-old was assessed and he had sustained a number of serious injuries but showed no signs of life.
“Unfortunately, nothing more could be done for the patient and he was declared dead on the scene,” Meiring said.
The two occupants of the bakkie were assessed and found to have escaped injury.
The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
