Compliments of Benoni CPF

In the spirit of the Easter weekend, the Benoni CPF PROs and members decided to host a Safety Awareness Drive on Friday (March 25).

The Community Police Forum (CPF) from sectors 1 (Rynfield), 2 (Northmead), 3 (Benoni North AH), 4 (Western Extension) and 6 (Rynsoord), to name a few area’s in each section, stood at a few major intersections to hand out Easter eggs and safety tip guides.

Their Safety Awareness Drive started at midday on the Great North and Celia Nestadt intersection. They then moved to 14th Avenue and O’reilly Merry intersection, and stopped at the Tom Jones and Mowbray intersection.

“We printed 1 000 safety tip guides, including the areas from each sector and emergency help numbers,” said Benoni CPF public relations officer (PRO), Marinda Beukes.

“And we have 40 boxes of Easter eggs which were donated mainly by the CPF members.”

The aim of the day was to hand out safety guides with tips on how the community can contribute towards preventing crime.

“Not everyone can patrol, but everyone can help to prevent crime,” Beukes said.

Beukes said the jobs of PROs are to represent the sectors and communicate with the community.
