Showing support for Brussels victims

Rynfield resident Marc Sweeck pays homage to Belgium by placing the country's flag outside his home.

After hearing what happened in the recent terrorist attacks in Brussels, Belgium, he decided to fly the flag for three days.

This was his way of showing his respect for the victims of the attacks.

Sweeck, who has lived in South Africa for 28 years, said, “Despite everything happening, the blood that flows through your veins brings you back home.

“We need to pray for the people who have suffered, not just for specific countries.

“We are one and we need to stand together.”

The 57-year-old said that he has grown to love South Africa and holds it close to his heart.

He shows his love by placing a South African flag outside his home, which is visible to everyone passing by.

“It is one of the most beautiful flags that represents the country and all its beautiful people,” he said.
