Love yourself during this month of love

Essence Hair, Health and Beauty, at the Rynfield Lifestyle Centre, opened its doors on December 24 and was officially launched on February 4.

The salon is owned by Andri Leonida and Kerry-Lee Hall.

Hall offers a variety of options, from hair-styling, make-up, Mary Cohr facials, oxygen and ozone therapy, to Essie gel manicures and pedicures.

With so much to choose from, make sure you take some time out and spoil yourself during this month of love.

Marianna Christophi wanted to try out a fresh, short style with her hair — and a bit of make-up, too.

She decided to go for an Ombre hair look.

Her hair and make up were done by Andri.

Hair:

For Marianna’s hair a Goldwell number 4N and 5N tint was applied to her roots, to even out her natural colour.

After 30 minutes, her hair was washed and towel-tried.

Andri proceeded with the next step, of cutting most of the length of her hair.

After drying the hair, Andri carefully selected strands of the hair and put them on foul, with Goldwell bleach and a low percentage of peroxide.

Once the fouled hair was ready, she rinsed, shampooed and applied a toner of 10V, 10P and 8NA to tone orange and yellow hair.

After 30 minutes the hair was washed, conditioned and was ready for the final stage of a blow dry and GHD messy curls.

Make up:

Andri performed her magic with Marianna’s makeup, using Studio make-up.

Kerry-Lee waxed and tweezed Marianna’s eyebrows to create the correct shape.

A matte foundation called light almond was applied to her face, using a foundation brush and wedge to blend the foundation.

A light concealer was then applied to the eye area, dark rings and blemishes.

A loose powder was applied with a powder puff to T-panel, chin and cheek bone, in a pat-roll motion.

Andri filled Marianna’s eyebrows with a black/brown eye shadow, using a small angle brush to give them an overall full and even look.

Eyes:

Two pinkish/brown eye shadows were applied in the crease of the eyes and just above the brow-bone, to give a push back illusion.

A pinkish highlighter was used on the eyelid and in the corners of the eye to make them appear larger, and a white shimmer was put underneath the brow-bone to create a bring forward illusion.

A black eye shadow was used with a small brush to line the top of the eyelid and under the eyes.

More mascara should be applied on top and less on the bottom.

A “Teaberry” powder blush from Studio was used under the cheekbones to shape the face and a highlighter was applied on cheekbones thereafter.

For the lips, a waterproof gel lip liner called “naked” was used on the outer lip.

A micro angel lipstick was used.

A luxury gloss called “Skinny Dip”, from Studio, was applied over the lipstick to give shine and voluptuousness.

The thicker the eyes, the lighter the lips should be.
