Hoërskool Brandwag helps the thirsty Free State

After hearing about the water crisis in the Free State, the staff and pupils of Hoërskool Brandwag decided to help by collecting the precious resource and sending it through to the neighbouring province.

Over the course of a few days, in January, the school collected over 2 000l of water in bottles.

This was only the tip of the iceberg, as Lucerne Transport organised a truck on behalf of the school, to deliver 35 000l to the Free State town of Kestell.

The large-scale delivery was partly inspired by Hoërskool Brandwag pupil Tiemie Nankervis (Grade Nine), whose stepfather, Jacques Schutte, works for Lucerne.

James Wright, Hoërskool Brandwag’s principal, thanked the owner of Lucerne, Martin Loubser, for his cooperation and hoped another large contribution could soon be made.
