Two dead, one injured in N12 collision

Two people were killed and another injured when three trucks collided on the N12 highway, after the Etwatwa off-ramp, on the Thursday evening, January 28.

According to ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, paramedics arrived on scene and found a small truck parked on the side of the highway.

Two other trucks were lying in the middle of the road, both ablaze

“On assessment, a lifeless body of a man was found lying a few metres away from a truck,” said Meiring.

“Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his multiple burn wounds.”

Meiring said two other patients were found on the scene, one patient with serious injuries while the second had sustained only moderate injuries.

“It is understood that the patients were taken out of the trucks by witnesses,” he said.

A few minutes later, the seriously injured patient succumbed to his multiple burn wounds.

The other patient was transported to a nearby hospital for further assessment.

The driver of the small truck was not found on the scene.

Officials were on scene to investigate.
