Attempted Snake Road smash-and-grabber evades arrest

Law enforcement authorities, the Benoni CPF and security companies spent 30 minutes searching for an attempted smash-and-grabber this morning (January 28).

Anton Koen, owner of No Jack Vehicle Tracking, said a criminal attempted to smash a vehicle’s window on the corner of Snake Road and Pioneer Drive, at about 8am.

Martin du Plessis, of the CPF, said a CPF member was driving behind the male victim and saw the attempted crime.

The person immediately alerted authorities.

Within minutes, a search for the culprit ensued in the nearby bushes.

The search did not result in the suspect’s arrest.

The Benoni SAPS could not be reached for comment.
