Safe bombed at petrol station

A case of business robbery was opened at the Crystal Park SAPS after a drop safe was bombed at the Sasol garage in Putfontein, on Monday, January 25.

The incident occurred just before midnight, at the business on Putfontein Road.

According to Crystal Park SAPS acting media liaison officer Tryna Maritz, four armed men, driving a white VW golf, stopped at the garage, as if they wanted petrol.

“Suddenly, they pointed guns at the petrol attendants,” said Maritz.

“They forced them into the garage’s office; the robbers fought to open the door and eventually entered the shop.”

Maritz added that the men bombed the drop safe and fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

No injuries were reported and no arrests have been made.

Further investigations are being conducted.
