Boy (16) charged with hit-and-run
A 16-year-old youngster was expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate's Court on February 25, on a hit-and-run charge.
Crystal Park SAPS acting communication officer Tryna Maritz said the minor was arrested on January 7, after his parents accompanied him to the Crystal Park Police Station.
The teenager was allegedly behind the wheel of a car that crashed into a child in Fairleads, the day before his arrest.
The City Times reported on an incident in the paper dated January 15, where two parents were walking their son in a pram on Eva Road, when the driver of a BMW lost control around a bend and collided with the 19-month-old child.
The child was rushed to hospital and was discharged two days after the accident.
Maritz said the teen was released into the care of his parents.
He has not yet been asked to plead.
