Three suspected illegal miners arrested on Golden Drive

Three suspected illegal miners were arrested for being in possession of unlicensed firearms, on Golden Drive, on Wednesday, January 13.

According to Capt Tsekiso Mofokeng, provincial SAPS spokesperson, security guards and Benoni CPF members were patrolling around the area when three suspicious men were spotted.

The CPF, together with the security guards, apprehended the men and called the police.

Police searched the men and found three unlicensed firearms.

A case of being in possession of illegal firearms and ammunition was opened at the Benoni Police Station.

All the men were detained at the Benoni SAPS and will appear at the Benoni Magistrate’s Court soon.

Further investigations are continuing.
