In December, the City Times reported on the dire financial constraints faced by the organisation.
The organisation offers telephone, face-to-face and trauma counselling to trauma victims.
Debbie Richards, LifeLine Ekurhuleni director, said it costs R20 000 a month just to keep the Benoni counselling site open.
The organisation has also had to cut back on counselling services.
“In December, we have managed to keep counselling services open but not for 24 hours, as we should,” said Richards.
LifeLine would like to encourage members of the public to donate what they can – whether its financially or volunteering their time.
“A R10 donation can help provide an extra half-an-hour in counselling services to the Ekurhuleni community,” added Richards.

- Becoming a volunteer LifeLine counsellor.
- Donating items for sale at LifeLife’s monthly jumble sale.
- Donating refreshments and cleaning products for counsellors comfort.
- Volunteering time and skills to assist with; administration tasks, such as booking counselling sessions.
- Servicing the car used to go out on trauma counselling requests.
- Fixing the gate intercom so that clients can more easily access the services.
- Handyman repairs for the counselling rooms.
