Man charged with rape and bribery
A 32-year-old man was arrested by the Benoni intervention task team, for rape and bribery in Daveyton, on January 4.
According to Benoni SAPS cluster spokesperson, Sgt Constance Moalusi, it is alleged that the victim called her ex-boyfriend to meet her at Sinaba Stadium in Daveyton to hand over his umbrella.
“When at the stadium, the man asked the victim to go with him to his place to talk about a misunderstanding and she agreed,” added Moalusi.
“Upon arrival at the suspect’s place, the man locked the door and raped the woman.”
Moalusi said police conducted an investigation which led to the arrest of the suspect.
“The suspect then offered police R500 to drop the case,” she said.
A case of rape and bribery was opened at the Daveyton Police Station.
The suspect will appear at the Daveyton Magistrates Court soon.
