“ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on scene to find the bakkie and bike on the side of the road,” said ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring.
“The rider was found lying a few metres away from his vehicle.”
The teenager sustained a serious injury to his head and was in a critical condition.
Paramedics treated the patient and provided him with advanced life support interventions.
Once treated, he was airlifted by the ER24 helicopter to Johannesburg General Hospital for urgent treatment.
No one from the bakkie was injured.
Local authorities were on scene for further investigations.
