Would-be robber shoots dead accomplice

A would-be robber shot dead his accomplice during an attempted robbery this morning, at Sesfikile Square, Daveyton.

The incident occurred at 8.45am.

According to Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele, an Albany bread truck was making a delivery when two men approached the vehicle.

”One of the suspects pointed a gun at the driver and demanded money,” said Sekele.

Suddenly, a third person joined them and went to the passenger side of the vehicle, and pulled out the occupant.

While the 31-year-old suspect occupied the passenger seat, the driver reversed the truck as one of the gunmen fired a shot.

The bullet missed the driver and hit the suspect in the truck.

Two of the suspects fled the scene. Nothing was stolen.
The suspect was declared dead on scene.

Two charges of attempted robber was opened and one of murder at the Daveyton Police Station.
