Three men arrested in connection with Putfontein shooting

Three men were arrested on December 7, in connection with an attempted robbery and murder in Putfontein.

This comes after two security guards were shot dead while escorting a British American Tobacco (Bat) vehicle to make a delivery at Two Brothers Tuck Shop, on Gumbi Street, Putfontein.

The robbery occurred on November 27.

According to acting Benoni SAPS cluster commander Brig Poobalan Subbiah, the men were arrested within the cluster, after the task team received information leading to the arrest from community members.

One guard was shot while inside the vehicle and the other outside the vehicle.

The suspects are detained at the Benoni Police Station and will appear at the Benoni Magistrates Court soon.

The men will be charged with murder and attempted robbery.
