UPDATE: Two arrested after shots fired in Morehill

Police could not confirm who had fired shots after two men were arrested in Morehill on Tuesday, November 24.

 

Lieut Nomsa Sekele, Benoni SAPS spokesperson, said the men allegedly broken into a home on Jeffery Avenue earlier in the day.

“The robbers tied up a 75-year-old woman and stole a TV, laptops and other goods from her home,” said Sekele.

The suspected robbers were arrested after police spotted their vehicle, a silver Polo, on the corner of Pretoria Road and Morris Avenue at 1pm.

“They were cornered by police, after which they abandoned the car and fled on foot,” added Sekele.

Two of the three suspects were arrested as police, EMPD, CPF and CMS descended upon them.

Their car had several holes in it, allegedly caused by bullets.

The two arrested men, aged 34 and 38, were expected to appear in court soon.

A third person evaded arrest.

The two individuals arrested were charged with house robbery.
