According to acting Benoni SAPS media officer, Const Zunickha Essakjee, the two officers were positively identified by the truck driver after a case of hijacking was opened at the Benoni Police Station.
The truck was hijacked on November 6.
Essakjee said the women allegedly stopped the vehicle and inspected it.
While doing so, they allegedly called accomplices, who then hijacked the vehicle shortly after the officers had left the scene.
Essakjee said the women had knowledge of the truck’s cargo.
The two officers appeared at the Benoni Magistrates Court on Wednesday, November 18 and they were denied bail.
They are currently detained at the Sun City Prison, Naturena.
Their next appearance will be on December 3.
