Cash-in-transit guard robbed in Etwatwa

A cash-in-transit guard was robbed at an Etwatwa petrol station this morning.

The incident happened on Eiselen Street, at around 9.20am.

Benoni SAPS cluster spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said the guard was exiting the shop when he asked two men standing in the doorway to move out of the way.

“Suddenly one of them pulled out a firearm and pointed it at the guard,” said Sekele.

“The guard dropped the trolley.”

Sekele said one of the two robbers grabbed the trolley and they both ran off.

Two more suspects were seen running off in the same direction.

Police are investigating a cash-in-transit robbery case.

An undisclosed amount of money was stolen.
