Man frightened by shots

A man rolled off his bed onto the floor, where he lay still for five minutes, after he heard several gun shots being fired.

The man, who does not want to be named, was visiting a friend at the Belvedere complex, off High Road, at the time.

Two police officers were injured in a shoot-out with a group of criminals on the corner of High and Thomas roads, in the early hours of Friday morning.

The man said he was awakened by about seven gun shots.

He explained that there were three or four shots, a slight break and another round of three to four shots.

“After the shots were fired I was lying in my bed wondering what was going on,” said the 28-year-old.

“… I rolled off my bed onto the floor because I thought somebody could be in the house.

“I didn’t know what it was.”

Six people have been arrested in connection with the shooting.
