Introducing the new Mr and Miss Benoni

An evening of glitz and glamour was the order of the day as contestants got ready to compete in this year's Mr and Miss Benoni pageant, 2015.

The event was held at the Kopanong Hotel and Conference Centre, where guests enjoyed an evening of delicious food and great performances by X-factor South Africa winners Four.

The MCs for the night were Ron McHarg and Miss Benoni 2014 winner Chanley Wong.

Wong and McHarg created an ambiance of excitement and suspense as they interacted with the crowd about the possible winners of 2015.

Contestants walked onto the catwalk in pairs, each representing their sponsors and showcasing beautiful dresses and fitted suits that added sophistication to the event.

The top 10 contestants chosen by the judges gave their best answers in the hopes of being one step closer to the title.

The night’s biggest winners are:

n Mr and Miss Benoni 2015: Catherine Reynders and Claudio de Jesus

n Debutant winner: Jaycob Bronkhorst

n Mr and Miss Benoni City Times Online People’s Choice Award: Maricelle Rautenbach and Dylan Bennett.

Reynders was thrilled at having won the pageant.

“I’m super excited, it’s always been my dream to win the competition,” she said.

“It’s more than I expected and I will continue working with The Haven Care Centre because I’m currently studying education and I love working with the children.”

Mr Benoni’s response was: “I am extremely overwhelmed, my mouth is dry and my head is spinning.

“I feel empowered and like I’ve accomplished something.

“With this title I will work towards building awareness against anti-bullying in schools and hope to build more self-confidence, not only in myself, but for other young people too.”

The event ended in celebrations and countless photographs with the new winners.

Book Mr and Miss Benoni

When it comes to crowning Mr and Miss Benoni, certain factors are taken into consideration.

Debbie Moore, co-owner of Rampage Modelling Agency, said contestants need to be good role models for youngsters.

The winners will need to give motivational talks to uplift the youth and be good representatives of Benoni.

Being involved and giving back to the community through charity work is another requirement.

The public is able to book Mr and Miss Benoni for an appearance by contacting Rampage Modelling Agency on 011 425 1728.
