All set for Charity Mile

The stage is set for the Peermont Emperors Palace Charity Mile, on October 31, at Turffontein Racecourse.

This year’s event will be the biggest yet, with the 16 chosen charities receiving a share of R1-million, a dramatic increase from last year’s total of R550 000.

The barrier draw for the race was held at Emperors Palace on October 21.

The City Times, who is a media partner in the annual event, was partnered with the Tembisa-based Welamlambo Primary After Care Centre.

Neil Andrews was drawn as the celebrity, while Deputy Jud, who has a number 13 draw, will steam its way down the race track to hopefully win a large chunk of money for the Welamlambo Primary After Care Centre.

The winning horse will win R150 000 for its charity, while the horse who comes last will still secure R50 000.
