Other events will take place on November 28 and 29, including community storytelling in the homes of Daveyton residents, for young and old.
The line-up for the festival includes:
- Daily open mic sessions hosted by Ntsiki Mazwai.
- “Patchwork”, a one of a kind production created for toddlers and their parents, on November 25 at 11am, and on November 26 at 10am.
- Storyteller Selaelo Selota shares modern true-life stories – on November 25 at 11am for senior citizens, and on November 26 at 11am for children.
- Mosoeu Ketlele presents a show tailored for young audiences on November 26 at 11am, for senior citizens, and on November 27 at 11am, for children.
- Bongiwe Kotta-Ramushwana and Mosoeu Ketlele present mix-masala of African stories with a message, on November 26 at 11am for senior citizens, and on November 27 at 11am for children.
- Kenny Rakotsoane and Mokhalinyana Mokhere take the audience on a journey into the heart of the African jungle on Novemer 25 at 10am and on November 27 at 10am.
- Brenda Shafir presents Shadow Theatre stories: “Tales of the Forest”, a show about African animals and their sounds, on November 25, 26 and 27 at 10am.
The Sibikwa Storytelling Festival aims to improve social cohesion through the age-old art of storytelling, promoting indigenous languages and building national identity.
Schools are encouraged to bring pupils and parents to bring their children, to learn about and experience the arts.
