The accident took place around 11.30pm.
According to Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesperson, when ER24 paramedics arrived, they rushed to the vehicle and found the man, believed to be the driver, trapped inside the extensively damaged vehicle.
“The Jaws of Life and other rescue equipment were used to free the man,” said Meiring.
“It took paramedics about 15 minutes to free the man before he was transported to hospital, in a serious condition.”
The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.
The details surrounding the cause of the accident are unclear and will be investigated by police.
