Lions remember one of their own

The 25th annual Gert Heyink Memorial Golf Day was held at the Benoni Country Club, on September 10.

The annual Gert Heyink Memorial Golf Day was held on September 10. Jeff (left) and his mother Joan Heyink, Diane Crompton (president of the Benoni Host Lions Club) and Jeff's brother, Mark Heyink, are seen at the prize-giving function.

The Heyink family, along with the Benoni Host Lions Club, organise the golf day every year to commemorate the former Lions member and long-time Benoni resident.

Heyink’s wife, Joan, thanked the Lions for their on-going support of the golf day, especially as many of them did not know Heyink.

A total of 103 players participated in the golf day.

The proceeds will go towards the SA Guide Dogs Association, The Old People’s Home and Vita Nova Home for Cerebral Palsy, in Springs.

The Lions thanked all the sponsors and players for their participation.
