Siyasiza gives back to community

With just 30 volunteers Siyasiza helps to feed between 100 and 150 children each week, as part of its "The Manna Project" initiative.

The non-profit organisation was started in 2010, by individuals with a passion to help members of the community.

Carol Foster, director, said that, as Siyasiza, they could not sit and do nothing about the need within the community.

“The Manna Project” involves feeding children from Chief Albert Luthuli Park every Wednesday afternoon.

Siyasiza also runs a number of other projects, which include “Feeducate”, where volunteers make 80 sandwiches for children from Benoni West Primary School and Benoni Junior Primary School.

The sandwiches are packed and delivered three times a week.

A sanitary towel project called “Isithunzi” is also run by Siyasiza, where sanitary packs which include soap, toothpaste, roll ons, razor blades, facecloths, combs and sanitary towels are handed out to Willowmoore High School learners in need.

Once a year, Siyasiza also runs a winter warmer drive, where blankets, scarves and hats are handed out to those in need during the cold winter months.

The organisation organises regular Kids Explosion outings for children in Chief Albert Luthuli and Farrarmere Gardens.

The organisation also works closely with Colin House, which is part of the Benoni Child Welfare Society.

With a growing need for sanitary towels, Siyasiza is in need of public assistance in collecting as many as possible.

The organisation also seeks assistance with donations of toiletries, food products and financial assistance.
