Robbers walk out of store with cash

Four men walked out of a store in the Benoni CBD with an undisclosed amount of cash, after they had emptied the tills on September 5.

According to WO Ramothakhi Maqabe, Benoni SAPS cluster spokesperson, the men entered the store on Prince’s Avenue around 9am, pretending to be customers and asked to see the store manager.

“They were all armed with firearms and forced the store manager to take them to the safe,” said Maqabe.

“After they couldn’t open the safe, the men took an undisclosed amount of money from the store’s tills, then just walked out.”

Maqabe said no shots were fired and nobody was injured during the incident.

A case of business robbery has been opened at the Benoni Police Station.

At the time of going to press, no arrests had been made and the matter was still under investigation.
