SPCA concerned about roadside pet sales

There have been recent reports of animals being sold on the side of the road, without the proper space or food.

The Benoni SPCA commented on this and gave the following tips on such situations:

At the SPCA, the animal will be checked and, if all is well, it will be put in their holding kennels in case it may have been stolen.

If it is not claimed within seven days, it will be put up for adoption.

Phone this through to the SPCA office on 011 894 2814/5 and they will dispatch someone as soon as possible to collect the animal.
