Reservist will be missed

The Benoni police cluster is mourning the death of one of their dedicated reservists, Capt Joy Little.

The 74-year-old Benoni CBD resident died on August 16, after a battle with cancer.

She joined the SAPS in 1990 and was a mentor to many volunteers in the police service.

Little became a sergeant in 1996, a warrant officer in 2001 and was promoted to captain in 2005.

“The beloved mother of two and grandmother of three was a dedicated and hard-working officer who went beyond the call of duty,” said Benoni SAPS spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele.

Benoni SAPS acting cluster spokesperson, Brig Poobalan Subbiah, conveyed his condolences to the family.

Litttle’s funeral was held at the Benoni Central Methodist Church, on August 25.
