“SAPS then respond to each of these incidents received from the community,” said Sekele.

“During police raids at these identified premises, arrests and seizures are made and perpetrators are prosecuted.”

Sekele said police regularly visit addresses provided to them as being problematic, and with the help of the EMPD, conduct drug raids.

She said the Hawks are also involved with investigations into alleged drug dealing.

Sekele said the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) also assists with legal notices issued where repeat offenders are identified and these cases referred to the Asset Forfeiture Unit.

The community are requested to inform police of drug dealings, by reporting it to the office of the Benoni Police Station commander on 011 747 0220 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
