One dies in shoot-out between suspected illegal miners

Another male was found in a critical condition and is believed to have suffered a head injury.

He was transported to hospital.

Two suspects have been taken in for questioning.

Earlier this morning, gunshots were fired between suspected illegal miners from rival groups.

Lieut Nomsa Sekele said explosives were thrown at the EMPD officers who were on the scene at the time.

There is heavy police presence in the area and a helicopter flying overhead.

Police are investigating in the incident.
