Excitement brews for golf day

Christo de Klerk will trade his stressful job as general manager of Buco Rietpan for a day of golf on the pristine Ebotse Links golf course.

De Klerk, who plays off a 16 handicap (previously an eight), said he is extremely excited about due to be the 2015 Benoni City Times Buco Rietpan Charity Golf Day, which due to be held in conjunction with marketing partner Heypenni Gold, on Wednesday, September 9.

“I think we need balance in life, we work hard and we play hard,” he said.

“Golf is one of those things that unwinds you.

“I hate to say it, but you forget about work for that one day.”

The avid golfer said he is not only excited about a round of golf, but also about supporting two worthy charities, in the South African Guide Dogs Association for the Blind and Kids Haven.

“The funds are going to a good cause and whatever we make on the day is part of our social responsibility,” said de Klerk.

“We are trying to help people … and that is why I’ve decided to partner with the Benoni City Times.

“We have some sense of social responsibility towards the community, and the Benoni City Times has given us this opportunity to give back.”

The general manager said the two charities are worthy of support.

“They do stunning work, I actually wish we could do more,” he added.

De Klerk said Ebotse Links is an “awesome course”, but warned of the thick rough and tricky greens.
