At Dev’s Cafe in Benoni, guests paid an entrance fee and became the judges of Master Chef Benoni, on Saturday, July 18.
They were served mouth-watering three-course meals specially prepared by chefs Elle Truter (qualified chef) and Lauren Jones, an amateur cook with a passion for food.
Blue and green table settings had guests guessing which meals were cooked by a specific chef.
With drinks flowing and a great ambience the evening got off to a great start.
The cook-off began and each chef presented their best meals in a bid to raise funds for the Simunye Orphanage in Springs.
Potential sponsors were all in attendance and a total amount of about R6 000 was raised.
The winning chef was Truter, with chef Jones as the runner-up.
Truter, a member of Heart Outreach, said they were planning to help the children and revamp the Simunye Orphanage with the money that they raised.
