DA to hold community meeting at the Bunny Park

The Democratic Alliance (DA) will hold a community meeting on Saturday (July 25), at 10am, at the Benoni Bunny Park, in Rynfield.

This comes after the community rallied to improve the lives of animals in the park on July 18, following a week-long furore over the conditions of animals and facilities at the park.

The aim of the meeting is to discuss the way forward on the development of the park and to answer questions the community may have.

On Wednesday, the DA went into discussions with the Bunny Park Rescue group and all the key players.

DA Gauteng Federal Council representative and ward 27 branch chairman Jacques Meiring said the DA will have a table outside the park, where community members who want to assist at the park can register their names.

“The members of the community will be briefed on the next step to be taken by the DA with regard to the park,” added Meiring.

“They will also be told about the fixed care organisation that will be created to help take care and keep a general eye on the animals at the facility.”

Founder of the Bunny Park Rescue group Leighton Pearson, said volunteers are also needed on Sunday, for the clean up at the park; they can bring along black plastic bags and gloves.
