Child critical after being knocked off bicycle
A child was in a critical condition yesterday (July 23) after he was knocked off his bicycle on Benoni Road, near Evans Road.
“Paramedics arrived at the scene and found the child lying on the ground and bystanders busy performing CPR on the child,” said Netcare 911 spokesperson Santi Steinmann.
“Paramedics continued with resuscitation, and as soon as vital signs were noticed, the critically injured child was rushed to hospital under the constant care of an advanced life support paramedic.”
Steinmann said the youngster’s bicycle was in three pieces as a result of the accident.
The occupant of the vehicle was not injured during the crash.
The accident is being investigated.
The victim’s condition was not known the time of publishing on the morning of July 24.
