Farrarmere resident displeased with Ekurhuleni

"Ekurhuleni is asking the public to save the nation through water conservation, but they don't do anything when the public reports water problems."

These are the words of a Farrarmere resident, Annmari Steyn, who has a leak on her pavement at the corner of Longfellow and Sheridan roads.

Steyn said she first reported the water leak on December 17, last year, and was given a reference number 290016.

“I called the call centre on December 18 and was told that they were very busy due to the Christmas holidays,” said Steyn.

”Early in January I phoned the municipality numerous times, but could not be connected to the call centre.”

On February 3 she reported the matter again and was given the reference number 131439.

Steyn said she reported the matter again in March and, according to the call centre, the matter was attended to.

“In April, I reported the leak again, but I was told not to worry about the water running on the pavement as it would not affect my water reading,” added Steyn.

“I am very disappointed that, thus far, water is still running on my pavement; my perimeter wall is now growing moss and beginning to smell stale.”

The City Times asked Ekurhuleni for comment but, at the time going to press, none had been received.
