Deputy minister visits local factory

Deputy Minister of the Department of Trade and Industries (DTI) Mzwadile Masina, visited local factories in Ekurhuleni on July 10.

The purpose of taking the DTI to the factories is to offer the political leadership an opportunity to visit companies that have received funding from the department.

This campaign also serves as a platform for sharing information and ideas for the creation of employment, economic growth and the creation of black industrialists.

“As the DTI, we have decided to make funds available to grow black industries,” said Masina.

“We need to build individuals who can be in charge of these companies.”

Masina visited Naledi Inhlanganiso, in Benoni, the largest black-owned foundry company in South Africa.

The company is a industrial group operating in the steel and iron sector of the manufacturing industry.

Executive chairman of Naledi Inhlanganiso Sibusiso Maphatiane said that, four years ago, they partnered with the DTI and managed to save jobs.

“Thanks to DTI, we can show that the government is working to develop black industries,” he added.

Naledi has a total of 320 employees, mostly engineers and artisans.

Masina also visited Plasma Cut, in Germiston.
