Youth encouraged to work harder

The youth was encouraged to work hard in order to reach their goals, at a youth encouragement seminar, on July 4.

The event took place at the Mount Zion Tabernacle Church, in Daveyton, where the goal was to engage the local youth regarding the challenges modern youngsters faces and how to overcome them.

The event included a variety of speakers, each with their own take on what the youth might be doing wrong and how to correct it.

Hellen Chigo, from Michaelmas College, opened the ceremony with inspiring words and Motlotlo Musi was the master of ceremonies (MC), entertaining the audience with his talent for comedy.

Motumi Maliehe (marketing manager) and Mfundo Clock (teacher) are two young speakers who attended the event to share their own experiences and words of wisdom.

Additionally, Mbuyiselo Botha (Commission for Gender Equality) and Pastor Dora Ndimande (Springs) addressed the audience.

The messages of each of the speakers contained several uniform points, such as the tendency of modern youth to blame their environment, government or past, whereas they are the only ones holding themselves back.

Additionally, everyone highlighted that anything is possible, as long as you believe it.

The point most strongly emphasised was the necessity to be prepared to work hard in order to achieve your goals.

Chigo and Rose Maja, from iThemba Rape and Trauma Support Centre, organised the event.
