Stolen vehicles recovered in Putfontein

Police recovered two stolen vehicles from a house in Putfontein, yesterday (July 9).

EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago said the recovered vehicles are an Isuzu bakkie that was hijacked earlier in the day, in Roodepoort, and a Ford Bantam that was stolen in Tembisa, in November 2014.

Two Malawian nationals were found in the process of disassembling the Ford Bantam and were arrested on the scene.

The arrests were made by EMPD Equestrian Unit members, in the yard of a house on Marais Road.

The Metro Police managed to locate the hijacked Isuzu Bakkie via the tracking device on the vehicle.

Charges of possession of stolen goods have been registered at the Putfontein Police Station against the two suspects, aged 40 and 45.

The suspects are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrates Court today.
