Strutting their way to a win
This year's Miss Northmead Mall competition saw 81 contestants participating for the grand title.
The pageant was held on Saturday, June 20, at Northmead Mall.
Rampage Modelling Agency choreographed and produced the event, which drew a large number of East Rand parents in support of their children.
There were four categories: seven to nine years, 10 to 12 years, 13 to 15 years and 16 to 24 years.
Debbie Moore, from Rampage, said the pageant is not about winning.
“The girls had fun and helped to do something good for charity, as they were each required to hand in one blanket,” she said.
All the blankets collected will be donated to an organisation in need.
The judges included Robert Breedt (Mr Benoni), Tanya Borchers (owner of Tanya Borchers Photography) and Refiloe Radebe (executive manager at Genlex Agencies).
The winners of Miss Northmead Mall are:
- Rika Rautenbach (16), she is automatically entered into the Mr and Miss Benoni pageant.
- Sphumele Hlengwa (14)
- Shaylin Nel (10)
- Pahmi Sikireta (8)
The winners’ received, among other gifts, vouchers from Northmead Mall.
