Jason Peters dies in accident

The family of Jason Peters (49), discovered on Saturday (June 13) that he had died the previous night, after an accident on the corner of Uys Street and Cruise Crescent, Rynfield.

Peters, a Rynfield resident, felt ill on Friday evening and around 4.30pm he drove to the office of Dr Magaseelan Pillay in the CBD.

When he arrived, he was told the doctor was on leave so he left.

It is unclear where Peters went after he left Pillay’s office and his family said they could not get hold of him again, but they believe he was on his way to a hospital.

He did not return on Friday night, which prompted the family to file a missing person’s report on Saturday morning at the Crystal Park Police Station.

Stephanie Moonsammy, Jason’s daughter, said they were told on Saturday evening that Peters had been involved in a car accident near the Linmed Hospital.

Kyle Peters, Jason’s son, said a post-mortem was conducted and it was discovered that the cause of death was a fractured neck, caused by the accident.

Jason is survived by his children, Stephanie and Kyle, and his wife, Catherine.

“I was shocked when I heard of his death, devastated,”said Moonsammy.

He was a minister with Endtime Celebration Ministries and ran his own construction company, Packads Building and Electrical.

“He was very involved in the ministry, very kind-hearted, always helping people,” said Kyle.

“My father was brainy, always trying to get his hands on knowledge.”

The funeral will be held today (Wednesday, June 17).
