Couple robbed at Danie Taljaard Park

Following recent robberies at the Danie Taljaard Park, police are again warning residents not to visit the area.

A couple with their daughter (3) and friends went fishing at the park, on Golden Drive, yesterday, June 16.

At around 5.50pm, Benoni police spokesperson Lieut Nomsa Sekele said, four men approached them and ordered them not to make any noise.

“They produced a gun and robbed the victims of cellphones, bank cards, GPSes and wedding rings,” said Sekele.

The robbers then fled into the nearby mining area.

No one was injured and no arrests have been made.

Police will monitor the park.
