Winter Knights to the rescue
Some destitute community members from Benoni and Boksburg received donations of 120 cups of soup and 200 blankets on Saturday, June 6.
The donations were made by members of the Round Table Golden East 181.
Chairperson of the Benoni-based club, Robin Clare-Talbot, said they mostly donated the items in the Boksburg and Benoni CBDs with the help of the Benoni Community Police Forum (CPF), who accompanied them on their mission.
Clare-Talbot said the event was a success and was warmly welcomed by the recipients.
The donation formed part of the Round Table Southern Africa Winter Knights project.
To show solidarity with the beneficiaries, around 30 donors were dressed in summer attire to show their understanding of the cold conditions.
