Help keep the homeless warm

Heart Reach is asking for donations from the public, to help feed and clothe those in need this winter.

Heart Reach is an independent non-profit organisation (NPO) which was started in February.

“We feed the homeless and vulnerable every Wednesday and Thursday, as well as aid them with brand new winter clothes and blankets,” said Elle Truter, from Heart Reach.

The organisation relies solely on donations from the public.

Their immediate needs are men’s shoes, any non-perishable items and cash donations.

Donations can be dropped off at their offices at 44 O’Reilly Merry Street, Northmead.

“Our long term goal is to start up Heart Reach Haven, a shelter for the homeless, somewhere they can go at night to get rest and a warm home cooked meal,” said Truter.

Truter said they hope to organise a fundraiser, MasterChef Benoni, next month.

The event is meant to raise funds to install toilets, a fire place, repair roofs, repair windows and donate camping cots to the Simunye Orphange in Daveyton.

For more information or to donate, send an email to Heartoutreach@gmail.com or contact Elle Truter (073 141 6034).
